Germain Ribot (French 1845-1893) He was the son of the famous Théodule-Augustin Ribot and brother of Louise-Aimée (1857-1916), also a painter. Ribot studied with his father and learned much from him in regards to technique. As practice, he and his sister often assisted their father on his compositions. Ribot later studied with Antoine Vollon (1833-1900), honing in on his keen eye for minute features in everyday objects. He first participated in the Salon of 1875 and continued to do so through the end of the decade. References: Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs, 1976, E. Bénézit
